Growing up in Penzance has been a dream. However, being a teenager living in Cornwall has been a rough ride. Being part of Become You CIC, allows me to help other youths of PZ find their musical dreams. I hope that I can help motivate other youths to expand a career in the Music Industry. I have studied music all throughout my education. Starting off by playing a few instruments and then taking it further by studying Music Technology at both Mounts Bay Academy and Truro College. I aim to support other young people, like myself, into becoming more active in their musical dreams. 

I am a performer raised in and around Penzance and West Cornwall. I strive for creativity and to have peoples’ voices heard through theatre, specifically applied theatre and community drama, which I hold a degree from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. I have been involved in local community projects and culture, which I want to bring to Become You to pursue social change, as I believe Penzance is a haven of creativity that, although many creative projects exist, is not fully embracing the younger and upcoming voices.

Art has always been my therapy. It is my way to understand and express myself when I can’t find the words. I have studied photography and fine art, and I am passionate about the therapeutic potential of the arts and how this can be used to help individuals and communities. Building upon this, I have developed a strong interest in collaborative and participatory photography where cameras can be used to give individuals a voice and a way of telling their own story. As a creative youth practitioner for Become You CIC I aim to share the power of creativity, and look forward to collaborating with, being inspired by, and hopefully inspiring other young people just like myself.

Stemming from the arts originally, I have been working with young people in Cornwall, from all backgrounds, for nearly 20 years. I feel very privileged to have been able to walk beside them as a professional coach and senior youth worker and help them, help themselves navigate this difficult world. They inspire me everyday with their courage, their take on things, their ideas and, their wit. I hope to bring all of my skills to Become You CIC and coach young people from Penzance, to realise their potential in the creative industry and help with their identity, unlock their creativity, and offer some aspiration and skills.

As a creative, I have years of experience working in Londons West End as an actor, I've performed at Glastonbury and Bestival, I've directed several plays, run a very successful garden design and installation business and I am currently back at Uni in Falmouth, studying for my MA in Fine Art. 

Having worked hard to gain experience working in creative industries over several years and having successfully run businesses, the hope is to support young people not only feel passionate about a future in any creative industry, but also to provide realistic and sustainable positive steps into their new exciting future.
